As one of the first champions we created for League, Annie’s combination of character traits—loveable and scary, cute and twisted—help set the tone for the diversity of themes we wanted our universe to explore. Annie is the flagship character for a world where archetypes and expectations can be turned on their heads, and anything, no matter how seemingly sweet, can be dangerous.

In order to make Annie’s in-game model fit proportionately with juggernauts like Garen and Sion, we decided to give her a hyper-stylized look that emphasizes her childlike features. We made her head, hands and feet huge, foregoing realism and embracing her larger-than-life characteristics. She is, after all, a fire-wielding little girl with a giant, magical bear.
