The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, a Chinese folk story, tells the love story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. The story of the Cowherd and Zhinu, from the classical romantic, also reflects the twists and turns of unwavering love, reflecting the Chinese working people’s unswerving pursuit and yearning for love. The story mainly tells that after the Cowherd was driven out of the house by his sister-in-law, he met a group of fairies playing in the lower world. Because of a silk scarf, the Cowherd and Zhinu fell in love at first sight. After living a happy life of male ploughing and female weaving, the emperor sent troops to forcibly separate the loving couple. A sad story, from this story derived the Chinese traditional Valentine’s Day (the seventh day of the seventh lunar month) Qixi Festival.
